Can you apply and then receive an absentee ballot but change your mind and vote on-site? If so, what do you need to do with the absentee ballot?
Yes. However, you will have to vote a Provisional Ballot. This is strongly discouraged unless you have:
- Lost your original absentee ballot, and do not have time to receive a new ballot and return it by mail by Election Day
- Believe that your mailed ballot may not be received in the Clerk’s office by Election Day
Your Provisional Ballot will count if the Election Commission did not receive your original absentee ballot
- Do not bring your absentee ballot to the polling location on Election Day or Early Vote
- Poll workers have been trained to not accept the ballot at the polling location
Can absentee ballots be hand-delivered to a precinct or the Washington Co. Clerk's office on Election Day?
No. The only absentee ballots accepted on Election Day are the ones received in the mail, or by an authorized agent.
